How do they do it?

How do extremophile and extremotolerant organisms survive in conditions that we typically think of as being restrictive to life? What are the functional mediators that allow them to do this and by what mechanisms do they work?

Here in the lab we use a combination of ‘omics approaches coupled with molecular, cell biological, biochemical, and biophysical techniques to identify and understand what tricks these organisms use to tolerate extreme environments.
